I spoke with David Danioth about my website. The version I currently have up is being reworked, so I used the opportunity of speaking with him to display it and get feedback. He seemed to enjoy the changes I am making and offered guidance on a few edits to my work, including making sure everything is lined up and changing Art Institute to The Art Institute on my resume. He understood that my work is in progress and was very patient with critique. I am comfortable with the direction I am going, knowing that this new version is far better than the last.

Week 7 Peer Review

I had the opportunity to view Gabriella Trull's webpage: gabriellatrull.wix.com

I enjoyed the simplicity of the intro page, the neutral color scheme, and her font choice.
Her imbedded case studies were a nice touch.
She wis trying to work on alignment in the styling page, and learning how to imbed video
for the events page.
I enjoyed her writing section, it was well done and good information.
I mentioned the resolution of her imbedded pdf's could be a bit higher to fix the fuzzy
display of the text, she will work on it.

Overall, nice, clean, simple to navigate.

My interview with Nancy O'Connell went well. She was well spoken and forward in her responses to the questions I posed:

What is your first impression?

Not enough color. Doesn't look like a designers site.

What do you thing of the navigation?

Everything works correctly, however it is not interesting. Adding more interesting fonts would be a good asset.

Do you like the variety of work represented? 
It looks like the work presented is mostly editorial work, would like to see more variety.

How do you feel about my logo?

The logo or "Mark" is not helping things. It needs work. Possible try to begin with a mood-board to help define your style.

Do you feel the resume is effective?

The link works so you are able to print it out.

What suggestions for improvement do you have?

More color, more fonts, more design. More like a publication in design.

How do you feel about video on websites and do you feel this would benefit from having some?

Finds videos distracting.

Do you like the color scheme used?

What color?! Needs more.

Overall, I enjoyed my talk with her and found her insight useful and thoughtful. I am in the process of working on my site, however, I am going to pause and create a mood-board to help define my style.

Week 6 Peer Review

I spoke with Bryce Wright about his site.

I enjoyed the images he had available to view and the accordion layout on the portfolio page. 

The critiques I offered were:

The photo carousel on the main page could be removed to avoid confusion with the portfolio page.

His bio on the main page could all fit on the black part of the lens on the camera.

The text outlining on his name could stand to be removed.

A bit more text could be written about his projects. 

Overall, nice job.

The site had a couple of interesting elements. The black and white images which changed into color on the main page were unique and engaging. The collage of works on the main page, placed with a subtle background offered a pleasant feel. One change to the site could be better navigation and a more fluid approach to getting through the case studies.

The movies reeling on the main page to illustrate  abilities in motion graphics were well done. The assessment list, following the resume, which had animated bars of skill level growing when the page scrolled down, was interesting.

The usability and layout of this site was fluid and easy to navigate. The look was consistent throughout the site. The high resolution images on every page, with the works integrated into the photos is something I wish to do. The slightly transparent effect on rollover is a nice touch.

Sabrina Nguyen

Great, simple font choice, layout, with the side navigation. Nice, smooth presentation of case studies, high resolution photos with integrated works. Very subtle and very useable. This is inspiring  to find/take photos to present work better, use side navigation for web, top navigation for mobile,  and a simple font.
